The effect of thermal treatment and processing on the crystallinity and thermal behaviour of PVC Commercial PVC has a relatively low level of crystallinity between 5 and 10% with a broad melting range of approximately 120–220°C. A study of the literature has been made to clarify the work to date on the crystallinity and thermal behaviour of PVC, particularly using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. Primary crystallinity is found in all PVC powders as made, but, once melted, secondary crystallinity of a lower degree of order is formed.
