At the time Bernstein was working as a coffee trader in the Netherlands. He specifically wanted to find a German publisher for his book, but he struggled to find one. As a businessman, he had few connections with the world of academics, and he found that most publishers of that time believed that the topic of anti-Semitism would not attract a wide German readership. The book was eventually published in 1926 by Jüdischer Verlag under the title of Der Antisemitismus als eine Grouppenerscheinung (literally ‘Anti-Semitism as a Group Phenomenon’).... %I Loughborough University
