Most of the traditional modelling approaches are working well in other situations fail to perform well in swirling flows when the swirl numbers are high. To this end the purpose of this paper is to analyse the large eddy simulation of a simple, well defined, unconfined, non-reacting swirling jets experimentally tested by Al-Abdeli and Masri et al [1]. The test rig consists of a centred fuel jet a cylindrical bluff body and a swirling air jet. The sub-grid scale turbulent have been modelled adopting the dynamic procedure. The predicted LES results producing a very good agreement with measured of mean velocity, turbulence intensity. Overall the results shows that the complex flow pattern developing from the interaction of a strongly swirling flow pattern in the primary zone with the impinging primary jets has been captured by the present simulation in great detail. %I Loughborough University
