We computationally design highly reflective, plasmonically
enhanced coatings for more sensitive and versatile radiation
detectors in the infrared regime. The large scattering crosssections of microinclusions are exploited to design devices
and spectrally sensitive coatings for sensors, high temperature insulators, and solar applications. We focus on coreshell microinclusions composed of silver or low-bandgap
semiconductor which have plasmonic resonances with excellent and tunable scattering properties without suffering
from losses at high temperatures. These particles display a
rich spectral response dependent on the complex refractive
index of the particles.
