A human factors evaluation of an electronic display system for an aircraft flight deck

This thesis describes a two and a half year study of the human factors associated with the introduction of electronic displays, i.e. cathode ray tubes, and their associated controls onto a civil transport aircraft flight deck. A simulator was constructed for the evaluation which was managed jointly by the British Aircraft Corporation Ltd. and Hawker Siddeley Aviation Ltd. (now British Aerospace) under a Ministry of Defence contract. [Continues.]
