Mokuzai Kaikan building is an important example of Japanese office architecture as it combines considerations of latest construction technology (digital fabrication), Japanese traditional spatial thinking (reinterpretation of engawa space) and design challenges of contemporary workspace and work style. The article explores the recent developments of office architecture in Japan and the role Nikken Sekkei group plays in this context.
