Optimal lecture room allocation by digital computer

A general discussion of allocation problems is dealt with in the earlier pages of this thesis. The problem specifically dealt with in the main part of this work is the allocation of rooms to classes according to particular patterns of choice. The object of the research is to develop a computer system for carrying out the process of room/class allocation as a practical aid to administration. The system must reduce the amount of administrative manual effort required, effect an improvement in the overall results obtained for room allocation and be both fast and economical with regard to computing effort.
