This concept, Sneaker Wave, is based on the concept of momentous water movement, creating a spontaneous and unstructured reference to a Tidal Bore. Sneaker Wave replicates the pattern of wave movement and the rotational surge associated with a tidal bore: its spectacular appearance and immense size typified by this phenomenon in Zhejiang Province, as well as other locations worldwide. My use of satin polished stainless steel and marble animates the alternate surfaces of the sculpture creating a colour and change in material break when reading the forms of the artwork: but at the same time retaining the idea of robust energy and momentum. The satin polished stainless steel will reflect the colour of the white marble, and the white marble will have the optical sensation of breaking waveforms. The stainless steel will also add a support structure to the granite, using stainless steel pins to connect each section of the sculpture in position.
