Stephen King
Stephen King is the most prolific and widely read gothic and horror writer of all time. Obsession is both a core theme and an M.O. for King as is evident in his compulsive return to a gallery of character types, sites and subjects: writers, teachers, adolescents and the elderly encounter and typically triumph over an entourage of monsters. Whilst the shapeshifting figure of the Monster catches the eye, it is the everyday horror of physical and mental illness, of conflicts at home, school and work, of painful memories, grief and death which often lies at the heart of King’s work.
