Using the Hybrid Finite Element approach suggested by Pian, finite elements are derived and tested for the static analysis of isotropic and orthotropic plate structures. The deflections and stresses of loaded clamped and simply supported orthotropic plates are computed and compared with existing work. The variation of structural properties with the angle between global axes and elastic properties is also investigated. Results agreed with existing work.
