‘The Wine much better then the Bush’: Thomas Lodge’s address to the reader in The Countesse of Lincolnes Nurserie

This chapter explores the link between the address to the reader by Thomas Lodge and the main text of The Countess of Lincoln's Nursery (1622). Thomas Lodge was a Catholic literature author turned medic and the Countess of Lincoln was a Puritan aristocrat and so the essay explores this apparently unlikely pairing in the light of other similar works and Lodge's own output.
