This is a catalogue of works by Amikam Toren, an Israeli-born conceptual artist who has been producing work in London for fifty years. This selective retrospective of the artist's oeuvre discusses and chronicles his major achievements. Toren is famous for his 'Armchair Paintings' and his radical investigations of materiality, his engagement with text-painting and his prolonged assault on the nature of representational art. In addition to an introduction and catalogue of works exhibited in Cambridge in June-September 2021, the catalogue contains an essay by the artist Lulu Ao, examining his Armchair Paintings from a Chinese perspective.
