The reflection on design and its plurality was the motivation to bring together the texts of this book, whose authors were carefully selected. The reader is guided by several sectors - from the most traditional, in which industrial products are projected, to the most recent ones -, in order to enhance the bridges built by the designer. Transdisciplinarity is a premise for the activity, as design explores an investigative field of many possibilities, aiming to point out solutions, in whatever area. The designer can, for example, propose solutions for products from the nautical or aeronautical industry; improve the execution of a task or equipment in a printing shop; observe and optimize the performance of services in a restaurant chain; and, even, apply their own methodologies - approach by project - to perfect an express manicure service. In this sense, the activity can develop and think the interface with the human being or end user of any product or service, in any area, in order to improve aspects and results in general. One should always keep the focus on the user, think about the environmental consequences, and consider the social impact caused, in addition to the innovation factor.
