The focus of this chapter is to debate the extant literature on workplace bullying and provide a synopsis of current research. We commence by exploring how scholars define bullying and approaches used to measure its prevalence. Next, we debate evidence on the impact of bullying for targets, witnesses and organisations. We follow this by evaluating the research literature on organisational and individual antecedents of workplace bullying. Our chapter then focuses on two relatively under-researched, yet important topics: the role of bystanders and workplace cyberbullying. The chapter ends with a summary and suggestions for future research.
