Dance as an enabling tool: interdisciplinary potential of the basics of dance movement
This article describes and discusses the creation and implementation of a dance-inspired
stage movement module for Drama students of the English and Drama Department of
Loughborough University called “Movement and Text” and of an ‘ad-hoc’ basic dance course for
the British Swimming team also based at Loughborough University campus. Both activities were
developed in the academic year 2010-2011 and both offer examples of career perspective for dance
teachers who might want to explore non-conventional environments and research fields, as well as a
good starting point for future applications.
