The dynamics of interfacial fracture significantly affects the fracture behaviour including crack initiation, propagation and arrest, and material properties such as dynamic fracture toughness. There are therefore strong motivations for analytical modelling of dynamic interfacial fracture to achieve a mechanical understanding or to facilitate postprocessing of experimental fracture data for the assessment of material properties, vital for maintaining structural integrity and preventing dynamic failure.
