This chapter explores the link between the address to the reader by Thomas Lodge and the main text of The Countess of Lincoln's Nursery (1622). Thomas Lodge was a Catholic literature author turned medic and the Countess of Lincoln was a Puritan aristocrat and so the essay explores this apparently unlikely pairing in the light of other similar works and Lodge's own output.
