ABCE Student-led Research Symposium 2024 Programme
This supplementary document was issued as a handbook or programme of events and presentations at the 2nd annual Student-led Research Symposium in the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering (ABCE). Issued and run by the ABCE Hub Committee, the event is a celebration and promotion of the research done by early-career researchers working across disciplines towards Creating Better Futures in the Built Environment across Loughborough University.
Hosted in the Sir Frank Gibb Building, the event was well attended with over 60 attendees including 40 Doctoral researchers from the school alone, alongside technical and support staff and members of the senior leadership team.
The day also featured support from C-DICE (The Centre for Postdoctoral Development in Infrastructure, Cities and Energy) - hosted in ABCE, alongside the wellbeing and careers teams from the central university.
We were fortunate to have been provided with excellent keynote talks about the importance of research and innovation, research culture and internationally renowned research in the built environment from:
- Professor Steven Christie, Associate Pro Vice Chancellor (Doctoral College), Loughborough University
- Professor Daniel Parsons, Pro Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation (PVCRI), Loughborough University
- Professor Shimul Haque, Director of Smart Transport Safety Research Lab (STSRLab), Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia
