Backward to forward radiating leaky wave antenna on a half mode corrugated SIW

Download (491.37 kB)

The paper presents a backward-to-forward beam scanning leaky wave antenna (LWA) with enhanced gain based on a via-less half mode corrugated substrate integrated waveguide (HMCSIW). Two off center longitudinal slots are optimized to match the impedance over frequency without any open stop band and continuous scanning. Grooved step-down profile of corrugation has been realized to achieve low SLL. The proposed antenna is shown to operate from 24.5 to 32 GHz with a peak gain of 15 dBi and beam scanning of -54° to 20° and can be used for applications in Beyond-5G communications.
