One dimensional leaky wave antenna (LWA) tends to have an extremely directive beam in one plane and a fan beam in the other, which makes it unsuitable for highly directive applications. This paper takes a meander line based LWA and describes the design of a bespoke logarithmic shaped lens for such LWA to achieve a directive beam in both planes while maintaining low side lobe level (SLL).
