Bodily sensory reproduction player for windsurfing remote training

Windsurfing (WS), which is a sport that involves sailing far from the coast, has traditionally involved a coach observing windsurfers’ sailing from the coast or on video, telling them about any observed weaknesses on land, and then having them attempt to correct those weaknesses at sea during training. However, it is difficult for windsurfers, especially professionals whose required corrections tend to be minor, to accurately reflect such feedback from coaches in future wave and wind conditions. In this study, we have developed a bodily sensory reproduction player (BSRP) that senses the movements of WS equipment at sea and reproduces the same movements on the basis of the results. We also propose a new training method for WS that enables windsurfers to re-experience their movements over and over again under the same conditions with BSRP.
