Engineering of Sport 15 - Proceedings from the 15th International Conference on the Engineering of Sport (ISEA 2024)

The gold standard for assessing muscle activity is electromyography (EMG). However, EMG is time-consuming due to skin preparation and electrode positioning. Pressure signals have been successfully used to detect muscle contractions using small piezo-resistive pressure sensors. The aim of this study is to investigate whether muscle contractions of a seated person can be detected using the pressure sensor array of a commercially available pressure measuring mat.
