Engineering of Sport 15 - Proceedings from the 15th International Conference on the Engineering of Sport (ISEA 2024)

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) aims for elite field hockey to utilize surfaces that do not require water. Non-watered surfaces ideally need equivalent performance to the current Global category water-based (WB) surfaces to be widely accepted by elite users. It is necessary to understand what performance characteristics of WB surfaces are (most) important relative to sand-based (SB) surfaces to develop new appropriate test methods.
