Investigating sensomotoric insoles: a comprehensive analysis of muscle activation, blood flow changes and postural stability
Engineering of Sport 15 - Proceedings from the 15th International Conference on the Engineering of Sport (ISEA 2024)
Foot health and postural stability are crucial for overall well-being and physical activities. Insoles, especially textured and sensomotoric types, have gained attention as interventions to improve foot function. Textured insoles may enhance blood flow and sensory input, while sensomotoric insoles aim to activate muscles during walking. This study explores the effects of these insole types on balance and muscle activation during gait. The findings give insight into engineering personalized insoles tailored to individual goals, such as altering muscle activity, increasing blood flow and improving postural stability performance.
