The study first assessed the current state of water supply schemes in Kedida Gamella Woreda, that helps in pin pointing one of the issues that is directly associated with non functionality rates of water supply schemes in the woreda, which is the preventive operation and maintenance approach. This is because the approach enhances capital equipment productive life, reduce critical equipment breakdowns, allow better planning and scheduling of needed maintenance work, minimize unavailability of water due to equipment failures, and promote health and safety of maintenance personnel.
