This work proposes a new single-step implicit-explicit scheme for computationally efficient numerical solutions of fluid-structure interaction problems involving laminar incompressible fluids and thin, flexible structures. The base solver for incompressible Navier-Stokes adapted in this work utilises the recently proposed inf-sup stable combinations of B´ezier elements [4] for the spatial discretisation, thus allowing diagonal mass matrices for efficient computation of Schur complement [5]. Since the diffusion term is treated explicitly, the iteration-free nature of the fluid solver is applicable for both Newtonian and nonNewtonian models of fluid flow. Several benchmark numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed framework.
