Data provided are macroinvertebrate taxa collected from five lowland English streams in during summer collated and harmonized from multiple previously published studies. Data were collected using either a 15-second kick sample (900 µm pond net) or via a cylinder sampler (comparable to a hess sampler) on the spot in three discrete substrate habitats (gravel, sand, silt). Data resolved to family level and are published in Ecology and Evolution: DOI 10.1002/ece3.70034. More information can be found in the paper.
