This small wall plaque, barely noticeable next to the portico of the building of the Opera Balilla – the Italian fascist youth organization operating between 1926 and 1937, when it was absorbed into the Gioventu' Italiana del Littorio (GIL) – is located in Piazza San Marco, Latina, Italy. It commemorates the role of the Opera Nazionale Combattenti (ONC) in the reclamation of the Agro Pontino and the development of new towns. The association with fascism is clearly represented by the familiar axe device of the fascio littorio, the most prominent of fascist symbols.
