The direcrional characteristics of a spark source of acoustic waves in a solid are studied experimentally' The angular dependence of the ampiituJes of longitudinal and shear waves and of Rayleigh surface waves is inuestigated for two principal discharge geometries. A qualitative interpretation of the observed dependences is given.
