Based on the modified Bruggerman method (mean field theory), equations for the effective diffusion coefficient in a porous medium are derived, and the dependences of the effective moduli of elasticity of composite materials on the volume fraction of inclusions are obtained. It is shown that the application of this method to the determination of the elastic properties of laminated composites gives the results that are identical to those obtained earlier by the averaging method.
