This is the introduction to a special issue of the journal Victoriographies. The special issue features essays relating to Marie Corelli that originated in papers presented at a centenary conference at Mason Croft, Corelli’s former home in Stratford-upon-Avon. It also features essays that are the result of responses to a subsequent call for papers. The special issue is dedicated to the memory of Simon J. James.
