Executive summary: UK housebuilding has evolved since the Second World War into a diverse and complex industry, continually trying to respond to multiple demands for quantity, quality, environmental sustainability and affordability. Drawing on several reviews of the industry history, current status, challenges being faced and drivers for change, this report discusses a number of UK housebuilding scenarios for the next 10 to 20 years, in order to provoke deliberation and encourage more strategic thinking within the industry and amongst policy makers, as part of a pan-industry movement towards a more sustainable future ...
