Video documentation of the Live Performance Drawing Video Installation A Mother's Love's Labour's Lost performed as part of the Landed exhibition at Loughborough University in March 2020. Video footage courtesy of Anka Mazkranowska. Artist Penny Davis performs Kolam drawings using salt, rice flour and pigments in direct response to a video of herself balling socks. The same video is projected on the back wall of the container in which the exhibition takes place. The footage includes conversations between the artist and audience about the project. The project was part of the practice-led research for the PhD thesis Matricentric Drawing: Performative autoethnographic strategies for visualising reproductive work and maternal thinking as a single (m)other 2025.
