Jonathan Meuli is a Glasgow-based painter, trained at the Ruskin School of Art at Oxford, from which he graduated in 1982. In this exhibition catalogue Professor Phillip Lindley (Loughborough University) discusses a selection of paintings spanning nearly four decades of Meuli’s career, tracing the origins of his profound interest in abstraction and the routes by which the artist arrived at his current, large abstract oil paintings.
