COLOSSUS (a robopoet) - a demonstration and explanation

online resource
posted on 2025-06-10, 13:10 authored by Peter Dukes

This item is an explanatory video (6 minutes) of COLOSSUS, a robopoet made using Processing. The algorithm has been developed to give control over its distinctive double-column page layout which consciously imitates the design of Jacques Derrida's Glas (1974), to provide continuity of textual and peritextual elements that can span pages. It exhibits the capacity to select, display, vary, mimic or repeat from a corpus of source texts, all of which are in external TXT files. These external files can be replaced with new texts, and so give COLOSSUS the ability to work with any correctly formatted source material. The work was produced as part of a practice-led PhD.
