The framework presents a structured and comprehensive categorisation of household food waste (HFW) causes, systematically organised according to the COM-B behavioural dimensions (Capability, Opportunity, Motivation) and key food management stages: planning, purchasing, storage, preparation/consumption, and handling of leftovers. At this stage, the framework is considered pre-evaluative, developed through an extensive literature review, the author’s experiential insights and a focus group discussion. It serves as a foundational model prior to validation and refinement through expert consultation via focus group discussions.
