Hester Biddle (1629/30-1697); preacher and pamphlet-writer. Playing an active role in the Quaker movement, also known today as the Society of Friends, Biddle travelled extensively as a minister, both overseas and in Britain. Her writings both reflect on these experiences, and provide an insight into seventeenth-century post-civil war religious culture.
