The impact of sampler and skimmer cone orifice sizes was investigated when using low-dispersion LA and solution nebulisation ICP-MS systems. For laser ablation experiments, both soft and hard particles were investigated via the analysis of multielement droplets and NIST 610 glass reference material. Differences in sample introduction methods influence ion transmission and oxide formation within the mass spectrometer interface.
