Healthcare is a socio-technical system with the purpose of achieving people’s health. However, there is not a consensus about how to achieve it. A systemic thinking approach enables the dynamics of a system to be synthesised.
Currently, there is a lack of outcomes that help to meaningfully understand people. A holistic healthcare outcome should gather the deepest needs and desires from stakeholders, but with a common purpose as a path forward.
Well-being and happiness would enable a deepest comprehension of people and would strengthen the social dimension in Design for Health that has tended focus on technology.
New design approaches in healthcare would trigger transitional processes that need to occur at a societal level to be sustainable. Hybrid Social Innovation (HSI) approach is a suitable model for an effective healthcare system.
