The demand for sustainable agricultural practices has been rising in line with increasing global population. The development of alternative products with plant-based active ingredients for effective crop protection is therefore gaining acceleration to minimise losses whilst also preventing detrimental impacts to the environmental. Neem oil is one prominent candidate for such products. This project has been performed to address this need, and the emulsification process of neem oil has been studied with the objectives to:

Demonstrate the benefits of process intensification for obtaining fine, stable neem oil emulsions

Optimise the emulsification process and

Scale-up the emulsification process of neem oil-in-water dispersions.

Presented at ECCE 15th European Congress of Chemical Engineering, 8th September 2025 - 10th September 2025, Lisbon, Portugal

© the authors
