Presentation by Prof. Rachel Cooper (Imagination Lancaster) at the Urban Perspectives on Design Literacy Summer School at Loughborough University, 20–21 June 2019. Rachel challenged delegates to think about design beyond the traditional notion of a service provided by built environment professionals. Personal perspectives, urban design process, environmental sustainability, social concerns, diversity and mixed use, perceptions of place, sensory experience, health, crime, crowding, confidence, and more, formed the basis for an interactive session encouraging delegates to consider the sensory aesthetics of place.
