LUCAT Design process, LUDS x LU Design Society
The inaugrual lecture of the Lancaster University Design Society and Loughborough University Design Society. LUDS x LU guest lecture programme.
The Loughborough User Centred Assistive Technology, LUCAT, design process has been developed and taught by Dr George Torrens for over 20yrs and is applied by graduate across the World on projects ranging from National infrastructure Civil Engineering projects to product design.
The LUCAT process invovles an evidence based, bottom-up approach to new product development (NPD).
During the interactive lecture presentation, participants practiced how to gain empathy and affinity with people living with disability, awareness of stakeholders who influence product and service purchsaing, how to approach an interview, and undertake value analysis towards batch production of a product for this fragmented market.
