Experimental investigation using a thermal manikin of the heat transfer to the human body by simulated solar radiation while wearing personal protective clothing with different reflective properties and colours (Work package 1, Question 1.2)
This report will focus on the thermal tests by using a manikin under different radiant conditions with different outer clothing together with different underwear layers. This relates to the research Question 1.2 formulated in the project: “What is the effect of short wave radiation on protective clothing in relation to the reflectivity of the garment material?”. A total of six outer garments (four Nomex, two cottons) have been tested for these radiation experiments under different radiation levels of no, medium and high radiation.
