LEEDR Household recruitment: procedures, materials and methods
The LEEDR project was a 4-year research project that investigated energy demand reduction in family homes through understanding more about the way in which routines affect energy consumption. A multidisciplinary approach was taken using insights gained from engineering led monitoring, video based ethnographic techniques and interview/workshop methods from user centered design. The project took conscious steps to negotiate and collaborate across these disciplines in the recruitment of households to the study and in doing so a professional set of materials and a systematic approach to the recruitment process was developed. This report provides a structured presentation of the procedures, materials and methods used.
This work was funded through the UK Research Council’s ‘Transforming Energy Through Digital Innovation’ initiative, organised through the Energy and Digital Technology programs. The LEEDR project was based at Loughborough University, UK and the funding managed through the Engineering and Physical Sciences research Council [grant Number EP/I000267/1].
