Half of all road traffic deaths in the African region occur among vulnerable road users (pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists). The African region has the highest proportion of deaths among pedestrians at 39%, when the average around the world is around 22%.
The Factsheet addresses this issue and its potential interventions to guarantee safer roads for pedestrians.
