The possible existence of μ- and δ-opioid receptor subtypes, and interactions
between μ- and δ-opioid receptors, has been examined in isolated tissue
preparations, by radio-ligand binding in rodent brain homogenates and at the
second messenger level using cell cultures of human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y
