This thesis offers a rich picture of owner engagement with desktop 3D printing technologies in the UK based on the findings from a literature review, online survey study (107 participants), and semi-structured interviews study (15 participants), which can guide future research. The motivation for this project emerged from a desire to investigate whether repair accounted for a significant proportion of home 3D printing projects, stemming from a concern that bringing 3D printers into the home might lead to more—rather than less—household waste.
