The use of Sephadex G-10 gel chromatography with a
groundwater mobile-phase to separate bound and free cobalt in
concentrated groundwater samples has proven to be a relatively
non-invasive technique for the investigation of groundwater
chemistry. Trace amounts of cobalt as would be expected to be
released from a radioactive waste repository do exhibit association
with groundwater species from a test site near the Drigg low-level
nuclear waste site in Cumbria. [Continues.]
